Sweet Solar Tea

Ingredients:

  • 4-6 regular-sized tea bags (black tea or your favorite tea variety)
  • 1 gallon (about 4 liters) of cold, clean water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • Lemon slices, orange slices, or fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. Choose Your Tea:

a. Select your preferred tea variety. Traditional black tea works well for classic sweet tea, but you can also experiment with herbal or flavored teas for a unique twist.

2. Prepare a Container:

a. Choose a large, clear glass container or pitcher to make the solar tea. A glass container is ideal for absorbing and retaining heat from the sun.

3. Add Tea Bags:

a. Hang the tea bags over the rim of the container so that they are fully immersed in the water without touching the bottom. You can use a string or a wooden clothespin to secure them in place.

4. Fill with Water:

a. Pour cold, clean water into the container until it’s almost full, leaving some space at the top.

5. Place in the Sun:

a. Set the container in a sunny spot, such as a sunny windowsill or your backyard. The sun’s heat will steep the tea.

6. Steep Time:

a. Allow the tea to steep in the sun for about 3-4 hours. You can adjust the steeping time to make it stronger or milder, depending on your preference.

7. Remove Tea Bags:

a. After steeping, carefully remove the tea bags, gently squeezing them against the side of the container to release any extra flavor.

8. Sweeten the Tea:

a. While the tea is still warm, stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar. Adjust the sweetness to your taste by adding more or less sugar.

9. Chill:

a. Place the container in the refrigerator to cool the tea down. This will also help the flavors meld together.

10. Serve:

a. Once the Sweet Solar Tea is cold and ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the tea over the ice.

b. Garnish with lemon slices, orange slices, or fresh mint leaves for an extra burst of flavor and visual appeal.

11. Enjoy:

a. Sip and enjoy your homemade Sweet Solar Tea on a hot day, at a picnic, or anytime you crave a refreshing and slightly sweetened beverage.

This Sweet Solar Tea is a delightful and natural way to make sweet tea, with the sun doing the steeping work for you. It’s a perfect drink to cool down and quench your thirst during warm weather.
